The best-known place of interest in Barcelona is, of course, the Sagrada Familia, the holy cathedral designed by Antoni Gaudí. Casa Batlló, also the work of Gaudí,is an apartment building designed entirely in the style of Catalan Modernism, and is considered by many to be the architect’s most beautiful house. The shapes of the building, both inside and out, are based on the legend of Sant Jordi (St. George) and the dragon – prepare to be amazed by the many beautiful details, colors
and mosaics.
Another magnificent building designed by Antoni Gaudí is Casa Milà, also known as “La Pedrera”, whose translation (The Quarry) refers to the rough exterior appearance of the building. The house’s interior, along with the rooftop terrace (with its unusual chimneys) are worth a visit.
Located in the district of La Ribera, the Picasso Museum is home to more than 4000 works by the multifaceted Andalusian artist Pablo Picasso, who spent a significant part of his life in the city.
The ‘Boqueria’, or Mercat de Sant Josep, is the colorful fresh market on the Rambla. The Boqueria market isn’t only a beautiful sight, but also the ideal place to taste the flavors and breathe in the smells of Catalonia at the start of the day, or enjoy all manners of top-notch cuisine at night.
